Does KTEC provide cleanroom consulting?
While this is not our primary business, we do occasionally provide consulting services to customers who need
assistance determining the type, layout, class, and other aspects of the cleanroom required to meet their needs.
How much information does a customer have to provide to receive a quote?
KTEC is a design/build cleanroom supplier. As such we can quote your cleanroom with only the essential elements
such as size, cleanliness class, and some of the other attributes found on our Cleanroom Planning Questionnaire.
Naturally the more information is provide, the more accurate the cost proposal. We create the detailed design package
once an order is placed with us.
We don’t own our building. Can a KTEC cleanroom be relocated if we move?
Absolutely. KTEC's cleanrooms are user-friendly in this way, with a minimum of parts and pieces making up the main
assembly of the walls, top deck, and other components. Our customers take their cleanroom with them when they
move and have re-configured or sold them when their needs changed. The modular, self-supporting nature of our
cleanrooms also has tax advantages as well as making leasing a possibility.
How strong are the walls? Can we hang/attach things to them?
Our modular walls are heavy-duty, with 18 ga steel studs in the DoubleWall system capable of supporting all manner of
shelving and other ancillary equipment. Our walls are also load bearing, allowing the room to be self-supporting
without relying upon the host building roof structure. The SingleWall and SoftWall cleanroom utilize powdered coated
steel or aluminum tube framing, providing stiffness and durability over the long term, particularly useful when the rooms are
relocated.
How long does it take to have a cleanroom installed?
Lead times vary, but our design/build approach is the fastest project delivery system available. KTEC manufactures the
cleanroom envelope, so we have direct control over all the critical components. Our people either install the cleanroom
directly or we hire subcontractors under the control of our supervision to assure smooth delivery.
How disruptive will installation be to my existing operation?
An important aspect of our modular approach is reduced time on-site for the installation portion. This reduces or
eliminates disruption and inconvenience to you. KTEC will coordinate all portions of the fabrication, delivery, and
installation. Our modular system installation is also clean, as opposed to drywall or other cut-to-fit systems.
What kind of warranty do you provide?
Typical warranty coverage is one year on all parts and labor, including any freight required to get warranty replacement parts
to the job. The only items not covered are expendable components such as prefilters, lamps, fuses, and of course damage
caused by the customer or its forces.
How does warranty labor accomplished if KTEC is not located near my cleanroom.
As stated earlier, KTEC hires local subcontractors to handle the trade work during installation, working under a KTEC
supervisor. These same subs are contracted by KTEC to handle any warranty issues which might arise. This way we have
local people who are familiar with the work available immediately to fix any problem.
What company supplies your wall panels?
KTEC is a cleanroom wall panel manufacturer, so in most cases we provide the walls ourselves. If the project has
requirements which are better met by another brand of walls, we will supply those instead. We are not a "one size fits all"
supplier but select the components most suited to the job.
Management told me to get three proposals. How do I know if I’m getting what I need?
First, KTEC will provide a proposal in enough detail so the user can plainly see what is included and what is not. Secondly,
KTEC can provide a check list which allows the user to compare our proposal to others he may have received. Thirdly,
most cleanroom customers are not versed in the intricacies of the ISO standard governing cleanrooms, and some
companies will take advantage of this to be the low bidder. Be assured that KTEC does not operate in this way and will
always provide a proposal which meets the needs of the customer.
A cleanroom is an enclosed space that has been designed to maintain a specific low concentration of airborne particles
relative to other rooms or spaces. The concentration of the airborne particles, measured in particles per cubic meter of a
particular mean size, defines the cleanliness level, or class, of the cleanroom. In addition, the cleanroom may have
supplemental specifications which define it, such as temperature and humidity level, static pressure levels and
relationships, airflow patterns, viable particle (microbial) or chemical vapor (non-particulate) concentrations, etc.
ISO standard 14644 defines the cleanliness class levels, the testing protocols, and related aspects of the design and
operation of clean space.
